Welcome to worship at St. Matthew's. Worship is at the core of our Christian communal life. With a variety of options to choose from, you can participate in worship based on your personal preferences and schedule. Please join us in person, or virtually!
In-Person Weekly Services
Throughout the Year
St. Matthew’s celebrates the Holy Eucharist three times a week.
Sunday, 8am Said Holy Eucharist
This is a said service in our chapel, drawing from the contemporary language of the Book of Alternative Services. Please use the First Avenue door to enter the church; you can find the chapel at the top of the stairs.
Sunday, 10:30am Sung Holy Eucharist
This service is celebrated in our large worship space. It is a sung service, held from September to June, with full choir, children’s Sunday School, and Holy Communion. We offer a coffee hour following the service upstairs throughout the year. This space is fully accessible from the parking lot, and assisted listening devices are provided. (This service takes place in the summer as well (9:30am), however, there is no choir or Sunday School.)
Thursday, 10am Said Holy Eucharist
This is a said service in our chapel, drawing from the contemporary language of the Book of Alternative Services. Please use the First Avenue door to enter the church, you can find the chapel at the top of the stairs. We offer coffee, tea (and sometimes cookies) downstairs following this service.
Summer Service Times
Sunday, 9:30am Sung Holy Eucharist
Beginning on June 20th and continuing through the Labour Day weekend,
our Sunday services (8:00am and 10:30am) are condensed into one service which takes place at 9:30am. This service is live-streamed.
Please note there will be no choir or Sunday School. Refreshments are served after the service.

Evensong
Join us for a beautiful simple service of worship, on the following dates:
October 4
Evensong on October 4th will celebrate the Feast of St. Francis, patron saint of animals and the natural world. The service features John Rutter's setting of For the Beauty of the Earth.” English poet Folliot S. Pierpont wrote the text. Pierpont is said to have written the hymn while sitting at the top of a hill, admiring the countryside view surrounding the city of Bath, England and the winding Avon River. The choir will sing Herbert Sumsion's evening service in A, and Bernard Rose sets the Preces and responses. Join us for this contemplative and moving service in St Matthew’s beautiful sanctuary, featuring our wonderful choir and esteemed guest organist, Matthew Larkin.
November 1
Evensong on November 1st will commemorate the Feast of All Souls, an occasion in the Christian calendar to remember all those who have passed. The service features Herbert Howells Collegium Regale Service, along with Bernard Rose's Preces and Responses. The anthem is Ernest Bullock’s “Give us the Wings of Faith,” with text by Isaac Watts, author of other well-known texts such as “O God Our Help in ages past” and “As I Surveyed the Wondrous Cross.” The words describe the saints' admiration for Christ's ministry and sacrifice. Join us for this contemplative and moving service in St Matthew’s beautiful sanctuary, featuring our wonderful choir and esteemed guest organist, Matthew Larkin.

Evening Prayers are sung by St. Matthew's choir. The service follows the Order for Evening Prayer from the Book of Common Prayer, 1962, and is held in the Church.

Blessing of Pets
Feast of St. Francis of Assisi
The Blessing of Pets is a much-loved tradition at St. Matthew’s. This service will take place on Sunday, October 4th at 10:30am.
All companions (pets) and community are welcome!
Family Services
These services offer a worship experience that can be shared by all generations, young and old. They are held on the
last Sunday of each month at 10:30am, from September to May. Please see the online calendar for dates.

Earth Day Celebration and Blessing of the Bicycles
On Sunday, April 26, St. Matthew’s will observe Earth Day at the 10:30 Family Service. One of the ways in which we celebrate our stewardship of the earth is by lowering our transportation carbon footprint. Bring your bicycles, bus passes, walking shoes, scooters and inline skates and join us for the “Blessing of the Bicycles”.
At the Souper Sunday lunch following the service, children will have the opportunity to fill small containers with suitable materials that birds can use to help build their nests. The children can then take these home, put them in places accessible to their local birds and watch the action.
