We welcome you back to worship in person.

See your church family, celebrate the Eucharist, raise your voice in song!

Please read the following about how we are worshipping:

No pre-registration is required

You do not need to pre-register to attend services. Just come!

Before you come to church

Please screen yourself and your family members for COVID-19 symptoms and stay home if you are unwell or are in a high-risk group.

Proof of vaccination against COVID-19 required for some church services

Please note that masks must be worn by everyone at all times, at all services except when receiving the bread and wine or while eating or drinking at a social event.

Sunday 8 AM service
Believing we have an ethical and spiritual responsibility to offer the Holy Eucharist to everyone who wishes to receive the sacrament, proof of vaccination is NOT required at this service. Physical distancing requirements for seating remain in place, as well as for visiting after the service.

Sunday 10:30 AM service
Starting November 14, proof of full vaccination and valid ID is required, except for those with a written medical exemption or children under 12. As a result of showing proof of vaccination, there will be more flexibility in pew seating. There will be Coffee hour following the service.

Thursday 10 AM service
Believing we have an ethical and spiritual responsibility to offer the Holy Eucharist to everyone who wishes to receive the sacrament, proof of vaccination is NOT required at this service. Physical distancing requirements for seating remain in place, as well as for visiting after the service.

Choral Evensong, Sunday November 7, 4 PM
Proof of full vaccination and valid ID is required, except for those with a written medical exemption or children under 12. As a result of showing proof of vaccination, there will be more flexibility in pew seating, and there will be a sherry reception following the service. We encourage you to maintain physical distancing during the reception.

In the church or chapel

Taking care of ourselves through vaccinations, masking, hand-washing and physical distancing are expressions of our baptismal covenant in which we vow to love our neighbours as ourselves. And so, as we worship communally, please provide contact information as you enter the church and wear a mask.

Eucharist

You have the opportunity to receive both the wafer and sip from the common cup at Communion. However, please know that the wafer alone is full Communion. At the time of Communion, come forward to the Celebrant to receive the wafer, walk 2 metres (6 feet) away, lower your mask and consume the wafer. Then raise your mask and sanitize your hands.

Singing

Singly softly is permitted during worship. A choir of 10 choristers under the direction of Kirkland Adsett will lead us in the psalms and hymns of praise and thanksgiving.

Sunday school

At this time there are no Sunday school classes inside the church.

Family Sunday Services are being held once month, starting November 14.

Coffee hour

Please stay, chat and have a coffee or tea after the Sunday 10:30 AM service.

We encourage you to maintain physical distancing during Coffee hour. Have a distanced seat in a pew to visit with friends old and new!

Live streaming of services

The Sunday 10:30 AM service is live streamed on Youtube.

Please join us for worship in real time with those who are attending in person!

Providing proof of vaccination for reasons other than attending church services

If you are entering the church building for any purpose (including church volunteer work) you must show government ID and proof you have received two does of vaccine against COVID-19, and that at least 14 days have passed since your second dose.

The only exceptions are:

  • you are under 12 years of age
  • you have a written medical exemption
  • you are attending a church service for which vaccination against COVID-19 is not required.

In order to meet these requirements, if you are a parishioner or visitor coming to St. Matthew's for any purpose or activity that is not exempt, please come during regular office hours, Monday to Thursday, 9:00 AM to noon. When you enter the building please first visit the Church office on the lower level to show your ID and proof of vaccination.

The requirements to mask and provide contact information remain in place for everyone entering the church building.

We thank you for your cooperation.
