Sunday, December 3, 2017 - 7:00pm

Presented by the Combined Choirs of St. Matthew’s, this program includes carols and anthems from the English Cathedral tradition, along with readings from scripture. Advent is a time of reflection and preparation for the birth of Jesus. It is a time when St. Matthew’s organizes survival backpacks for over 200 street youth and prepares gifts for women and children fleeing family violence.  There will be a free will offering.


stainedglasswindowA Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols in Anticipation of Christmas

Sunday, December 17, 2017 - 7:00pm

Presented by the Combined Choirs of St. Matthew’s, this much loved evening of song and story always begins with the treble solo “Once in Royal David’s City.”  The first Festival was held on Christmas Eve, 1918 at King’s College Chapel in Cambridge, England and is now broadcast around the world.  In the St. Matthew’s tradition, the service combines both choral and congregational singing of the familiar carols. There will be a free will offering.


BrahmsBrahms Requiem

Saturday, May 12, 2018 - 2:00pm

Presented by St. Matthew’s Combined Choirs and Directed by Kirkland Adsett, the Requiem will be sung in English with piano accompaniment.  Brahms begins this large scale choral work with the text “Blessed are they that mourn, for they shall be comforted.”  This theme of transition from anxiety to comfort is as welcome today as it was in the 1860s.  Free will offering.
